It's Christmas party season and here at The Colour Palette Salon, we know that getting ready to go out on the tiles to celebrate good cheer can be daunting for some. The age old dilemma of what to where is never more present than at this time of year, but guess what, you don't need to worry because this week on the blog we sat down with Hardia to get her "Top 5 Christmas party essentials" so you can shimmer and shine in a look that your party pals will never forget.
If you've met Hardia, this one will come as no surprise as she often love to swish around the salon in a sassy statement dress, but her key to carrying off this style is confidence. "For me the midi dress is the go to style at the moment and although these looks will look great under a disco ball, there really is no reason why you can't translate them into your day-to-day wardrobe" says Hardia. Style with an equally statement shoe for the festive season and then switch to boots and trainers for a look that'll not only get you through the working day, but the rest of 2020 too - this look isn't going anywhere!
When it comes to shoes, they're equally as important as the dress itself - perhaps more. Not only do you need something that has a little sparkle and style, but you also need something you can dance the night away in too! Hardia says, "When it comes to being able to stay on my feet all day and night, I always opt for a boot. A fail safe both day and night, this Christmas why not add something in a glitter or a metallic to your look?" And the great thing about picking boots to complete your look - You can wear then again and again with jeans and a sweater for work or when you're out and about.
Well we wouldn't be a high end salon if we didn't at least mention our signature hair style for this party season right? We're all about tousled, loose waves that look like we haven't made an effort (despite spending an hour in the mirror). Or if you're really looking to create an impact, why not opt for an update on an old classic, the beehive. Seen on models and celebs alike, make this look a modern one with a centre parting and some modern hair clips.
When it comes to beauty during the festive season, there's really no excuse when it comes to playing it safe with your makeup and nails. All out statement eyes, a bold lip and nails that are painted to within an inch of their life are just what we're looking for. "I'm such a fan of adding glitter to a statement eye, but it doesn't have to be tacky - a subtle touch of sparkle will not only highlight your eyes but when paired with a bold, matte lip, you'll really finish the look" says Hardia. It's also no secret that we love a bold, bright nail here in the salon - foils and metallics are a welcome addition to any look and will carry you through to New Year's just perfectly.
Last but not least, your finishing touches needn't be subtle at all. In fact for this season, Hardia recommends a "bigger is better" approach. "When it comes to adding a bold accessory such as jewellery or a clutch, be sure to look for similar tones and hues. These not-so-subtle pieces should stand-out, but we don't want them to do all of the talking for you." Hardia continues, "I'm a big fan of gold when it comes to accessories, layering up lots of minimal pieces is also a great way to carry off this trend if you don't want to go all out."
And there it is, Hardia's complete guide to absolutely rocking party season. In case you need more style inspiration, she has even created a Pinterest board which you can see here, head over and check out her latest looks.
